Returning to my dream city
Looking for a London photographer who know’s this city inside out? Well…. hint hint, look no further! I’ve been living in the Uk for over 13 years. It became my favourite city to discover bold and pretty locations…Scroll down to see my top 5 shoot locations as a London photographer.
All about LONDON
Okay, well this needs an entire blog post by itself. Wait for it folks, it’s worth it… Believe me.
But first, as we’re moving to New Zealand in September we decided to travel the word this year. Being a London Photographer for a while now, I totally understand my style and where I fit into this crazy world of the Romantics. Me and my Boo will be working together on several London Weddings in July/August 2018. So excited to return to my most loved city and go photo crazy! Get in touch here for Lifestyle, Family, Engagement and of course Wedding photography. Wooh that’s a mouth full ha! Plain and simple, I do it all… well almost.
1. Well of course. My go to romantic destination for my couples who’s into the chic, pure whites and romantic feels.
Alberts Pink + White Bridge. Visit this street in Spring (April) for perfect pinky blooms. Right next to Rayman, 1 Redcliffe rd. Chelsea. All along Kings Roads, not so hidden streets. Walk and you shall find.
2. Wonderful, historical and classy. This location is for the not so shy couples. It’s always buzzing with the London rush, best to go at 10 am before lunch kicks in.
The Grind, very small but so photogenic and minimalistic. Outside the Royal exchange, the steps and pillars are to die for. Be quick though, the security will ask you to leave, but just opposite Grind and The royal exchange are some pillars as well that no one has ever told me off by shooting there! Again, this location is pure city feels. High buildings, old and new…Boutique / cafe feels.
]3.This is a goodie, not only my favourite luxurious location ever, but also the nicest city walk too. Gives you the opportunity to have a beautiful connecting chat with your couple while looking for THE SHOT.
Eden road, for sure! Go at sunset for the soft light to shine through the historical cream buildings. No 11 Plimlico rd cafe/ restaurant is so chic with it’s all black building decor and so editorial to photograph from the outside with a couple walking past. Imagine… create! Wild at heart flowers. Whats more romantic than flowers. The fine cheese and co cafe is just Tiffany dreams with turquoise and white’s.
Trafalgar square and Westminster.
4. It’s a Rome-ance for sure! It’s a beaut for those European vibes. Start your session early. Like really early to avoid the tourists. I start my sessions at 7 am sharp here for light and privacy.
Right by the Square, fountains, steps and street crossings. I always like to include a cute cafe scene, so many in this location to choose. Shooting on the street of the Corinthia will make you love natural light even more.
5. Keeping this one for last, it’s short and sweet! Marylebone. Stunning cafe’s and crossings and in spring/summer they have peonies flower stalls right on the street. Perfect prop for a session!
The whole Marylebone high street will give you enough inspiration.
I hope you enjoyed this blog as much as I did writing it! For full engagement session in Belgravia and Trafalgar square, click here.

Feast your eyes on this Bali honeymoon inspired couple session at Blos boutique.
When you enter a room and just know this is all the vibes and feels you were looking for to inspire and create. My beautiful friend shared this little escape with me after having the healthiest lunch at Blos Cafe. The cafe / boutique hotel is situated in trendy Pretoria, South Africa. You would think it’s in a hidden botanical location such a Bali, and BAM there it was! I had to get creative and shoot this little gem.
All my crazy ideas came together when I found the most perfect couple for this shoot. Make-up artist, Chene Wiese and Pro Cricket player David Wiese. We met at the cafe for a quick drink and headed to the botanical room as quick as we could say BANANA LEAF! The look on their faces MEANT ROMANCE bliss. I love to photograph my couples in unique places that scream passion. A little bit about the room though… This beauty needs some detail!
All about the room.
On the outside it’s pure Greek! Pure white walls with cute little seating areas, and of course Pillows covered in leaf detail and a pop of yellow flavour. As you enter the room, the first thing you see is my dream stone egg bath. The interior in this place is incredible, I feel like they thought of everything to the little leafs on the hand towels. On the left is a cute romantic fireplace with rattan seats for all the winter cuddles. Did I mention the RAIN SHOWER. Okay, I need to move on, as I will describe this room till my hearts content!
About the couple.
South African couple goals right here you guys, they ooze confidence and passion between them comes oh so easy. I really want my couples to feel relaxed, as that’s the only way they will connect with me to get those insane images they want. A little thing I do is crank up the music fit for the occasion. Nothing says let’s get it onnnn like some RNB. Chene is an incredible make up artist, she looked flawless and felt that tropical madness with her handsome man on her side.
I loved everything about this session, cannot recommend Blos Cafe more. This shoot was inspired by our work trip in Bali as an international Bali Photographer we cannot wait to capture some stunning Honeymoon Bali shoots. This sure is the place to be!

YOU MADE ME BLUSH
This is the prettiest Engagement shoot in Trafalgar square, London. Well, the prettiest that I have ever witnessed in person! Cecile flew from South Africa to visit her boyfriend, Ian as he recently moved to the big city. It didn’t take him long to propose in the most romantic way… He popped the question in Victoria park followed by a luxurious high tea at the one and only Sketch.
Well of course a London Engagement session had to happen!
We planned our morning bright and early to avoid the morning London rush. Somerset house definitely played the most romantic role to start off our day. The lamp posts were still shining bright, making me one happy photographer. We made a quick stop at my favourite place, Covent Garden just to get my couple in the mood for what’s ahead! I love adding at least 3 different locations to keep things interesting and of course with that comes an outfit change. Who doesn’t like a variety? At this stage we were an hour in and in my opinion this is when the true authentic magic begins… My clients feel at ease in front of the camera just to be themselves and enjoy each other. Never ever have I even thought about using Trafalgar Square as a location but boy did it deliver, little Rome vibes for sure!
Last but definitely not least we ended our amazing morning at Belgravia, beautiful chic victorian houses perfect for the passionate moments, it’s quiet and oh so elegant. I love London with all of my heart, it’s challenging me every time to go out of the comfort zone and try new things. I will be travelling abroad for six months being a Destination Photographer all over the world. Read my blog here for travel dates and bookings for Nkima Photography here.
Much love always,
That impresses her very much!
This story is about a young South African loved up couple. Hanri is dear to my heart and Pieter to hers… We traveled from Los Angeles, 3 hours in the heat of the desert in a old vintage Ford Mustang convertible, thinking we’re too cool. Believe me it was an experience… Cameras overheating, leather burning like fire we just knew. It will all be worth it as soon as we get to our destination.
Joshua tree. Oh Joshua tree. You beauty.
We had about 40 minutes of golden hour and boy was it GOLDEN. Hanri & Pieter are the easiest couple to photograph as their authentic cute moments need no planning at all. They are just comfortable with each other and made the most out of this amazing experience being the only ones by the side of the road just breathing life in, together. Roxette (Joyride) kept on playing in my head. You can’t get more road-trip vibes than this.
Dust in her hair.
Lipstick on his cheeks.
Tyre marks in the sand.
We made history that day.
Today these two love birds are ENGAGED.
